Preparing the materials
Cut the fabric into short strips measuring 2" x 1/2 " using a cutting board, perspex ruler and a rotary wheel.

Learning the proddy technique
Working from the back of the hessian push the fabric strips through the backing using your prodder.

Using a stretcher frame
A stretcher frame is essential for making a proddy rug. It holds the hessian firmly and gives an even tension to your work.
